This assignment will give you a feel for the relationship between the file sizes required for different data types and transmission link speeds.

Assume the following files sizes:

1 hour HD TV show, 2.2 giga bytes
1 hour Standard TV show, 600 mega bytes
A typical book, 1 mega byte
A typical picture, 100 kilo bytes

If you have a 1 mega bit per second link between your home and your Internet service provider, how many seconds will it take to download a

one hour HD TV show?

5. If you have a 100 mega bit per second link between your home video server and your television set, how long will it take to transmit a 1 hour HD TV show from the server to the set?
